Questions: What is auto MDI/MDIX?

I think you might noticed there is auto MDI/MDIX feature support on network devices (router, switch, network card, etc) before, but do you know what does it mean?

It means you don’t have to worry about whether to use straight through or crossover cable when connect the network cable to this network device ports (either one of these 2 cable types will work), the auto MDI/MDIX feature will auto detect what type of cables connected and make it works.
