Great Wifi throughout my home
Gary K. February 6, 2021
I have now been using this system teamed with the Motorola MB7420 modem for 2 months. I have it set up in a 2 floor 2200 Sq ft home. The router is on the first floor centrally located with the satellite on the second floor in my master bedroom. Set up was very easy with the app. When setting up, do have the satellite next to the the main router for ease of set up. After you set it up with the app you can move the satellite to wherever you want it and it will easily connect to the main router. My internet speeds have been lightning fast, last checked 459 Mbps download, 25 upload. My Xfinity plan is 400 Mbps. I switched from the Netgear C7100V modem, router, voice combo unit, 3 years old. My internet was unreliable with a lot of buffering on my devices. With this Netgear mesh system my internet has been great throughout my home. Gone are the constant buffering issues I had before with my tvs since I stream shows, no cable. My son has also said his gaming is a lot faster without the lagging he was experiencing. I generally have 10 to 14 devices connected at a time. When my kids are home from school it jumped up to 20 devices. Even with 20 or more devices no internet issues. If your thinking about upgrading to this mesh system do it without hesitation. I'm glad I made the change as now my internet throughout my home has been very reliable. Another nice advantage is I was able to use my current system name and password without a change. This made it very easy to keep all of my devices connected to my internet. When my kids came home from school for Winter break they connected easily to our wifi with no issues since name and password were the same.
Mesh/WiFi 6 router

I have been using a different Mesh router with 3 units to cover my whole house and I was annoyed it was dropping the internet connection a few times a week. So I decided to buy the Nighthawk MK62 as soon as I saw it announced and to my surprise even it is only 2 units it covers my entire house without problem plus I have not seen a dropped connection again. Speed is great, I went from 150 MB to around 220 MB just by installing the new router.
Perfect for my needs

Easy to set up, and app is a nice touch. I’m not a gamer, and I’ve lost touch with all of the quality of specs of these things. But in my non professional, opinion, these things are wonderful. I have 1000 sq ft apartment. It’s long and full of brick and other things that cause poor signal. I got this so i could stretch my signal from the front to the back. The “satellite” receiver helps tremendously. I went from barely getting a signal in the back of the apartment, to getting full signal. My Internet speeds are supposed to be around 300, i end up with 375ish regularly and uploads are supposed to be 50 and i get between 40 and 80. I guess without the cable company model, they can’t bottleneck as much
Anyways, i would recommend to anyone having the same issues i was having.
linux and older systems beware

Don't get me wrong this router is awesome for those running newer systems. My windows systems and new apple products are working perfectly with this router; the issue arises when you are using older apple products that cannot update, or any linux systems. On these systems you get random disconnects that can only be fixed by resetting the router, and they happen constantly (several times a day).
It has come to the point where I had reinstall my old router with open wrt to run my older systems ,or when I am using anything running linux. The issues are not hardware issues either because I can run several of my systems in windows with no issues, then turn around and boot them into ubuntu/mint/ or kali and they disconnect constantly, even with windows based or 3rd party drivers for my several different wireless cards.
Overall this product is a fail. If your router cannot adhere to the standards that everyone else uses, that makes it a fail. This is a top of the line product so support your stuff.
It's doing the job

I just recently moved into a house that has my home office a bit removed from the rest of the house. I didn't bother connecting my old router so I dont have a basis for comparison. However, one the cable company got their end squared away, the Mesh WiFi 6 has worked very well.
I do have one Dell laptop that wont find the wifi network which is an issue I attribute more to the laptop/drivers.
Though I wouldn't use it much, also not the Nighthawk system does not have a usb port.
